Zack Snyder Partners with EA to Make Games

Steven Spielberg’s name didn’t exactly help Boom Blox become a top seller but that isn’t stopping the game publisher from expanding its cross-media endeavors.

Electronic Arts has announced a deal is in place with Cruel & Unusual Films, owned by Zack Synder of 300 and The Watchmen fame, that will allow Zack to develop three new intellectual gaming properties in conjunction with EA’s Los Angeles studio that EA will in turn publish.

The deal is similar to what’s in place for Spielberg, right down to utilizing EA’s LA development team. No timetable has been set for the first game’s release.

“I think video games are cool because they offer an opportunity to tell a story in an entirely unique way,” said Zack Snyder. “Being a long time fan of the games EA creates, I look forward to collaborating with them.”

EA already has a pair of upcoming big games with cross-media tie-ins: Dead Space with a prequel animated film and comic book, and Mirror’s Edge with comics and other tie-ins.
