I have to admit that the first two-thirds of Bungie and Microsoft’s Halo Reach Xbox 360 E3 trailer had me concerned. Watching Noble Team penetrate a (presumably) UNSC installation felt too familiar to the four Halo games preceding it. We’ve seen this type of gameplay before, albeit without the support of a squad of Spartans.
Then the team reaches a towering spaceship, docked similarly to the ship in The Last Starfighter film with its nose to the air. From here it’s hard not to excude some excitement as a Spartan boards the ship, blasts off and quickly engages in above atmosphere third-person ship-to-ship space combat.
Halo Reach will be one of the first “big” games out this holiday season when it arrives in stores on September 10. Watch the E3 trailer in its entirety below.
