The leaked description of Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger movie Super Bowl TV spot turned out to be accurate except for one little detail. Make that a big detail.
In a blink-and-you-miss it moment, the Red Skull makes his first appearance wedged between a collage of Captain America fighting sequences. This is our first glimpse of Hugo Weaving in the full Red Skull mask. He looks exactly as you might imagine he would. Creepy.
The Captain America trailer also shows us the first look at Steve Rogers before he gets all buff from the Super Soldier experiment. There’s a lot of CGI at work to pull the effect off. I’m mostly sold on the result but Chris’ head looks a little big on that scrawny body.
I love the look Joe Johnston has created with Captain America thus far but can’t help but feel a little let down by how the trailer was edited. It’s a bit of a mishmash of footage that the general population not familiar with Captain America might be confused by.
