Electronic Arts began their Madden marketing blitz today by announcing the signing of NFL MVP Shaun Alexander as the cover boy (view cover art)for “Madden NFL 07.” Shaun certainly put up the numbers and was integral in the Seahawks ascension to the Superbowl but can he avoid the dreaded Madden curse unlike Donovan McNabb last year who graced the cover then fell from grace due to injuries? Not even regular servings of Chunky’s soup could save Donovan from the curse.
“Madden NFL 07” is expected to ship this August for Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS, PC, PSP and Game Boy Advance. No word yet on if an altered version will appear on Playstation 3 in November but we should find out in roughly 2 and a half weeks at E3 in Los Angeles.
