‘Indiana Jones’ Game Teased by Bethesda and Lucasfilm Games

Grab a whip and don a fedora. Sometime in the likely distant future you’ll get to navigate through an original all-new story as none other than the iconic and legendary archaeologist-explorer Indiana Jones.

Bethesda and newly reconfigured Lucasfilm Games teased a future Indiana Jones video game with a short trailer. There may be clues regarding this new story within, but it’s likely way too early to decipher them.

Development is being handled by Bethesda studio Machine Games, best known for rebooting the Wolfenstein franchise and making Nazis fun to root against again. They are more than equipped to tackle an Indiana Jones video game.

Over a decade ago LucasArts was in development of what was considered a next-gen Indiana Jones game. It was ultimately cancelled after a playable demo was showcased at E3.

Of course, it’s hard not to think about Sony’s Uncharted series which pays homage to Indiana Jones in many ways. Developer Naughty Dog has yet the bar high for Machine Games to reach, and hopefully find a way to exceed.

Last year Microsoft purchased Bethesda so there is a possibility that when this new Indiana Jones game is released, it could wind up an Xbox Series X exclusive. It would be Microsoft’s ammunition against Uncharted, which is likely to continue to new adventures on Sony’s PlayStation 5.

As for when this new Indiana Jones game will arrive, we can hope it has been in development for a while and will be timed with the summer 2022 release of James Mangold’s Indiana Jones 5 movie starring Harrison Ford.

Speaking of Harrison, cross your fingers that Bethesda can talk him into voicing the pixel version of Dr. Jones.
