A new small batch of Snow White and the Huntsman images have surfaced featuring the film’s triumvirate of stars: Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth.
Audiences offered a lukewarm reception to this year’s first Snow White-themed film, Relativity’s Mirror Mirror starring Julia Roberts. Since its March 30 release, the film has earned just shy of $50 million at the box office, well short of its $85 million production budget. Thankfully for Relativity, it has tacked on another $64 million in international ticket sales.
Any comparisons between Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman begin and end at Snow White. Kristen Stewart in a starring role will attract a large portion of the massive Twilight audience, Chris Hemsworth will extend the reach into the older female demographic, and Charlize Theron’s deliciously evil turn as the Queen will pique the interest of men.
There’s a strong possibility that Snow White and the Huntsman could surpass $50 million in its opening weekend, much less after nearly three weeks in theaters. Sorry, Mirror Mirror, but the adult appeal of Snow White and the Huntsman will make it the fairest Snow White movie of them all.
In these new Snow White and the Huntsman, Stewart as Snow White is seen looking like both a damsel in distress and ready for war. Theron looks ravishing as the queen, ready to inflict pain on someone. And Hemsworth has the rugged Huntsman look down pat.
Snow White and the Huntsman is directed by Rupert Sanders and will prove whether Kristen Stewart is ready to push her career beyond Twilight when it opens in theaters everywhere on June 1.
