EA Forced to Delay Harry Potter Game

Warner Brothers moved Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from a November opening to next summer which left us wondering how long it would take for EA to follow suit with the game adaptation.

The answer turned out to be nearly a month as confirmed by EA today in a statement formally announcing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and various other platforms has been moved to next summer.

The good news for EA is they now have additional time to polish up the game after a typical rushed production schedule that goes along with developing a game based on a film.

The downside is Potter was expected to generate $120 million in revenue this quarter. With those big dollars out of the picture until next year, EA’s stock tumbled 3% in early morning trading.

An exact release date likely won’t be announced until early next year. We’ll pass along any additional Potter updates as they materialize.
