Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall and executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer had their work cut out of them on the first day of shooting in Honopu Beach, Kauai, Hawaii. The location chosen for the first shots was so remote that no land vehicles could reach it. Instead, the cast, crew and equipment had to be flown or boated in.
Disney has released a short video that chronicles the grand arrival of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow by helicopter on this first day of shooting. It offers a look at how remote the location was, the scene Johnny was shooting, and why riding head-on into a big wave with a jet ski is not for the faint of heart.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sets sail on May 20 in 2D, 3D and 3D IMAX.
