Christopher Nolan has revealed the title of Batman 3 to Hero Complex and it’s right in line with his plans to wrap the trilogy with a nice tight bow.
“The Dark Knight Rises” is the official name that will bombard theaters in July 2012 in strictly 2D with IMAX cameras. Hero Complex was also able to get Nolan to put an end to the endless rumors of The Riddler being the primary villain in the film. “It won’t be the Riddler,” Nolan said, adding more fuel to the fire that Tom Hardy’s recent addition to the cast might be as Killer Croc (unless he’s playing Det. Harvey Bullock as IMDB.com suggests).
This confirmation comes a day after rumors began swirling that Nolan has begun looking for an unknown female lead. Everyone is already presuming this female will play Catwoman but by dismissing The Riddler rumors, it’s clear that Nolan, his co-writer and brother Jonah, and story co-creator David Goyer are trying to think a little outside the box and what’s expected is not necessarily what will be delivered.
