Activision’s release of Rovio Entertaiment’s Angry Birds Trilogy on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo 3DS last fall has passed the 1 million units sold mark. Not too shabby for a collection of games that had already been played to death on mobile phones, tablets and PCs.
Those birds aren’t done being angry just yet. The success of Angry Birds Trilogy on a handful of consoles and 3DS has convinced Activision to publish a Wii and Wii U version later this year. Details about those versions are not available at this time, though I would be surprised if the recently released Anger Management DLC pack was not inclusive on the upcoming ports.
What’s interesting about this announcement is that the Wii is still being supported alongside Wii U. It’s becoming clearer by the day that Wii U hasn’t taken off (yet, anyway) and the much later Wii install base is still worth going after.
