Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Premiering During MNF

Sunday was a hectic day for the marketing teams at Disney and Lucasfilm. Shortly after dropping the official Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens poster online, announcing the first trailer was coming Monday night along with ticket pre-sales, and confirming a Star Wars seven-movie theatrical marathon at release, they shared a couple teasers from the new trailer on social media.

The first Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens trailer tease checks in with all the new faces who are about to become central characters in the Star Wars saga. They are Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Finn (John Boyega), droid BB-8, and villain Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

A second tease expands upon the Finn portion of the first. In it, Poe is disembarking from his X-Wing and gives Finn, who is randomly walking by, a pat of presumably good luck. Finn returns the gesture by staring at Poe with an emotionless face as he walks away.

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer that J.J. Abrams first hinted at way back during Comic-Con in July will premiere during halftime of ESPN’s Monday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. With the game starting at 8:15 pm EST, I would expect the trailer to air sometime around 9:45 pm EST, followed by it popping up on the official Star Wars YouTube channel shortly thereafter.

Update: Disneyland Today has confirmed that the approximate debut time for the trailer is 9:45 pm EST.
