Star Wars: The Force Awakens Poster Vertical and Horizontal in High Resolution

Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster

Earlier today Disney and Lucasfilm released the first official Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens poster featuring most but not all of the film’s key characters.

Kylo Ren, Rey and Finn are given the most real estate on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster as the new central figures in the third Star Wars trilogy. Poe Dameron doesn’t get quite the same billing as the other newcomers, but at least he isn’t Luke Skywalker who is 100 percent absent from the poster art altogether.

Luke may be absent but Mark Hamill’s name is listed on the cast list. The opposite holds true for Gwendoline Christie whose name is oddly missing from the cast despite her character, Captain Phasma, anchoring the lower portion of the poster.

There are two new obvious reveals in the poster art that finally put a face to the name, so to speak. The first is Maz Kanata, a rumored Force sensitive character that will aid the Resistance in their fight against the First Order. Maz is a motion-capture character performed by Lupita Nyong’o.

The second is what some people are mislabeling as a new Death Star in the upper right quadrant, when in fact it’s the Starkiller weapon that is capable of destroying entire star systems. A closer look at the high resolution version of the poster reveals the Starkiller appears to be carved into the surface of a snow planet and exists beneath the atmosphere.

Click either the Star Wars: The Force Awakens vertical or horizontal posters below for an awesome high resolution look at each. I personally prefer the horizontal version.
