Second Game of Thrones Actor Joins Star Wars: Episode VII

The Force is apparently strong with the cast of HBO’s Game of Thrones as a second actor from the award-winning series has been booked for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII from director J.J. Abrams.

BBC News is reporting that Miltos Yerolemou has joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII in an undisclosed role. His appearance in the film is expected to be brief, and the actor’s skills may provide some insight into the type of weapon he may brandish at some point in the film.

On Game of Thrones, Yerolemou played the role of Syrio Forel, an accomplished swordsman who trains Arya Stark in the ways of “the dance” while facing an opponent in combat with an edged weapon. Yerolemou’s career is a tapestry of sword fighting roles so naturally he’s already being connected with potentially wielding a lightsaber in the new Star Wars film.

Game of Thrones regular Gwendoline Christie, otherwise known as Brienne of Tarth on the hit show, was cast in Star Wars: Episode VII back in June. Though her exact role in a galaxy far, far away has yet to be formally announced, speculation suggests she’s playing a villain of some sort, either an Imperial officer or someone who is Force-sensitive.

Production on Star Wars: Episode VII ramped back up within the past week after a short hiatus gave Harrison Ford’s broken leg time to complete healing.
