Warner Bros. will be releasing the first footage from George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road and Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies this upcoming Saturday morning to several thousand Comic-Con attendees willing to brave the monstrous line for a spot in Hall H. In support of the footage, the first posters for each film were released online today and both hit the mark.
For Mad Max: Fury Road, we get an image of Tom Hardy as the new Mad Max, standing alone in the dry desert with his souped up car. An adventure awaits out in the dust beyond his vantage point, and like Max, we’ll have to wait to see what that adventure holds.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies poster focuses on Smaug and picks up right where The Desolation of Smaug left off as the dragon descended upon an entire village with the intent of laying waste to it. He’ll have to get past Thorin Oakenshield, a Hobbit, band of Dwarves and even Elves before that can happen.
If history holds true, the footage from these films that Warner Bros. releases won’t be made public until several months after Comic-Con, if at all. Usually Warner Bros. shows more in Hall H than to the public via trailers and clips, and we already know a Hobbit teaser trailer will be released between now and Sunday with a full trailer coming in October.
Mad Max: Fury Road doesn’t drive into theaters until next year, but it’s been out of production long enough for Warner Bros. to throw us a bone and deliver at least a teaser trailer, even if it shows a fraction of what premieres at Comic-Con.
