The latest DC films cinematic entry, Aquaman, began shooting earlier this month with Jason Momoa reprising his role as the aquatic superhero.
Co-starring alongside Momoa is his underwater partner, Amber Heard as Mera. It’s this character that gets not one, but two first looks from the upcoming film during Heard’s first day in front of the camera.
Director James Wan offered up the first glimpse at Mera in a wildly colorful shot that contradicts the darker color palettes dominating previous DC Films entries. The contrast between her red hair and green outfit with gold trim jumps off the page.
Amber Heard then followed up Wan with another image, this one that puts Mera’s setting in context as she seems to have arrived on shore on a boat dock at night.
Aquaman is scheduled for release on December 21st, 2018.
