The imminent arrival of Comic-Con 2014 brings us the first Skylanders Trap Team news since E3 almost two months ago. Not only will Activision’s upcoming Skylanders sequel have a big presence at the upcoming convention, but we have finally learned the exact contents of the Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition Starter Pack, and Kaos would most certainly approve.
On the surface the Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition Starter Pack appears quite similar to its non-Dark Edition counterpart. It includes the game, new Trap Portal of Power, two Traps, and Dark Editions of three figures: Food Fight, Wildfire and Snap Shot. Wildfire is not included in the standard Trap Team Starter Pack.
The big difference between the regular and Dark Editions of Skylanders Trap Team is the inclusion of a third trap, the Ultimate Kaos Trap, which will undoubtedly be the most sought after Trap for the new game. The Ultimate Kaos Trap included in the Dark Edition is larger than the Trap that will be sold separately in stores, and the ones sold separately in stores will be “limited” at launch on October 5.
In other words, good luck finding a Kaos Trap at retail when the game launches, but you can secure the Ultimate Kaos Trap by pre-ordering the game starting today at all retailers. That’s right; unlike previous Dark Editions exclusive to GameStop, Activision is making the Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition Starter Pack available at all major retailers.
Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition Starter Packs will be available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U and also Wii. The price is $99, so that extra trap and Dark Edition figures will set you back an extra $25.
