The world is advancing by the day, and so is gaming and all that has to do with it. Some of the trends in online gaming in 2016 will not trend in 2017. There are some aspects of gaming that will take center stage in the current year and anyone who regards him or herself as a game lover should know about these.
2017 Gaming Trends
1. Virtual reality
Now, the concept of gaming virtual reality headsets came into the gaming world in 2016. However, in the year under review, we will no longer be excited about the arrival of the multiple headsets for consumers to purchase and enjoy. The gaming world will now move into a full expansion of the base that has been installed and is expected to see the first tent-pole titles launched for the VR gaming world. It is a year when the industry will move away from consumer VR as a focus, and get to experience the standard PC virtual reality headsets from Microsoft and innovations in the technology by MagicLeap.
2. Shake up in mobile gaming
While we will acknowledge that mobile gaming has taken the entire gaming space in the last 10 years, the last 3 years have witnessed stagnation in this innovation. This is so pronounced that the games of 2014 and 2015 still stood on the top of the list in 2015. This means that nothing happened to innovate and advance the industry in the last two years. But that will end this year as Nintendo has gone into the lab to come up with something new. They want to treat the mobile games as something complementary and symbiotic to their consoles and its titles. They are also bringing in some diversification in the number of business models that mobile games can get involved in.
3. New consoles
It has always seemed like magic how game consoles are predicted as facing extinction because of the smart devices and how the consoles always defy all those predictions. It keeps making, even more, impacts every other year. With the Xbox One and PS4 still selling like wildfire, we will be having two new game consoles added to these in 2017. They are the Scorpio, which is coming from Microsoft; and Switch, which recently released via Nintendo.
4. Legislation
Another great game changer in the gaming world is the change in legislation that is happening in some countries. The nations that are further softening their hard stance on gaming include Japan, India and Brazil. So, gaming on the general level is expected to experience a boost in these nations. These will change the gaming world of 2017. If you consider yourself a game freak, you need to make space for these and wait for their arrival so that you can take advantage of them.
