Bryan Cranston is close to securing the role of the mayor in director Adam Shankman’s Rock of Ages for New Line.
Per Variety, Cranston is currently negotiating for the role with New Line and Shankman is already in disbelief that he gets to work with the ‘Breaking Bad’ star. Production is scheduled to begin on May 19 in Miami.
Cranston will next appear in the upcoming films The Lincoln Lawyer and Larry Crowne. He also has roles in two big upcoming science fiction projects, John Carter of Mars and the Total Recall remake.
Rock of Ages is the story of a small town girl who heads to Hollywood looking for stardom. Set in the 1980s, it already has an impressive cast list including Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Mary J. Blige. It will arrive in theaters on June 1, 2012.
