Updated: PSN pricing has been revised from $3.99 to $4.99.
Rumors began swirling yesterday about numerous multiplayer modes coming free of charge via download to Resident Evil 5 on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the coming months. Today Capcom confirmed those modes but they aren’t exactly “free.”
Two new modes will be bundled together and join pre-packaged Mercenaries Mode a few weeks after Resident Evil 5’s release. They will be available for download via Playstation Network or Xbox Live. The catch? You’ll have to spend 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $4.99 on the PlayStation Network to get them.
The first mode is simply called Slayer and challenges up to four human players to rack up points killing Majinis. Whoever kills the most within a time limit wins.
The second mode, Survivor’s Rule, pits up to four players against one another in either one-on-one or two-on-two matches.
