2K Sports is looking to build upon their introduction of Michael Jordan into the NBA 2K series last year by giving him some legendary friends in NBA 2K12.
Jordan will be joined by 14 other NBA legends in NBA 2K12 who will be playable in a new “NBA’s Greatest” mode that alows players to pit legendary players and teams against today’s superstars. Larry Bird, Dr. J, Magic Johnson and Kareen Abdul-Jabbar fill out the first 5 players, with 10 additional players to be announced at a later date.
The catch to “NBA’s Greatest” mode is that you’ll need to unlock these players before you can use them. Specifics of how difficult it will be to gain access to all the players and teams is currently unknown.
2K Sports is also hoping to capture the essence of basketball from the Jordan, Bird and Magic era by recreating the look and feel of those television broadcasts in how the game is presented. Expect to see a completely different look and camera angles when playing with modern teams versus the classics.
