The first sights, sounds and information from Ninjago Season 14 have come online as the 10th anniversary celebration continues. Or is what’s next considered a new season at all?
According to unconfirmed leaks from a French publication, a 45-minute special episode titled The Unknown Island will premiere either mid-or-late February in at least that country.
Accompanying this information was a description for the special episode that also matches the Ninjago Season 14 trailer surfacing the same time. In short, the ninja set off to a mysterious island with an unusual guide after an expedition with Misako goes missing, an encounter tribal residents who make sacrifices to a supposed sea monster.
If true, the expectation is that this special episode kicks off a watery story line that will continue with additional episodes in the summer of 2021. A special versus a traditional season this spring would justify why there are only four Ninjago Season 14 LEGO sets coming out in March rather than a more robust wave.
What’s unclear is how to classify the 45-minute episode. Should it be considered Ninjago Season 14? Or should it be a bridge between seasons like Day of the Departed with the true Season 14 yet to come?
These questions should be answered in the coming weeks.
