Update: The X-Men: First Class Trailer is now online and embedded below. I’ll check back later with high resolution screen caps when the 1080p version is released.
The long-awaited first trailer for Fox and Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men First Class is set to be unfurled this afternoon less than a week after several other big summer movies exposed new footage during Super Bowl commercials.
You won’t need a special power to see the X-Men: First Class trailer but you will need a Facebook account. Fox is using the social networking platform to build up a fan base and is requiring you “like” their X-Men Movies Page to access the trailer, a small price to pay for a first-look at the first young mutant footage.

In ramping up for the big X-Men: First Class trailer reveal, Fox has released a new image via EW of what looks like Magneto in a red helmet and cap standing in a room comprised almost entirely of metal. Maybe we’ll get a better idea of where he is and what he’s doing from the trailer.
X-Men: First Class chronicles the youthful days of Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as their friendship deteriorates and lines are drawn. The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Kevin Bacon, Zoe Kravitz, Jason Flemyng, Nicholas Hoult and Lucas Till.
Look for X-Men: First Class in theaters on June 3, 2011
