Take those Drew Barrymore rumors, brush them under a rug and then set that rug on fire. The third Twilight film, Eclipse, has landed a director and they never previously flashed David Letterman.
Variety is confirming rumors that began to pop up last week by stating Summit Entertainment has inked Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona to helm The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Juan Antonio Bayona became considered a protege of Guillermo Del Toro after directing the spooky atmospheric thriler The Orphanage under the producing eye of Del Toro. His involvement in the franchise should raise the bar and expectations while darkening the tone for the third Twilight film, much like Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón did when taking on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Eclipse already has a release date of June 30, 2010. New Moon, the second Twilight film, is set for November 20 of this year.
