After at least three weeks of negotiations, Dreamgirls director Bill Condon is officially the director of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
“I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen,” Condon was quoted as stating in Summit Entertainment’s announcement. “As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book – and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience.”
Still up for debate and speculation is how many movies Breaking Dawn will span. Longstanding rumors and buzz point towards a two-film release in the vein of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. However, Summit has yet to officially state whether they intend to make one film or two. The hold up could be contract negotiations with Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart who currently are inked for one more film only.
However many Breaking Dawn films are made, production is expected to begin in Vancouver this fall with a 2011 release.
