Twilight and Stargate: Atlantis Actors Vying for Conan Lead Role

The Conan the Barbarian remake is scheduled to start production on March 15 in Bulgaria and Millennium Films and Lionsgate have yet to lock in their musclebound title character originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger at his physical peak.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the list of eligible Conan actors had been dwindled down to Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and Jason Momoa (Stargate: Atlantis) until a third unnamed candidate with a more robust resume was brought into the mix. Chances are this late addition guy will end up landing the role if the lack of confidence in Kellan and Jason required his presence.

I would have serious doubts about the original finalists based on the comparison picture below. Maybe they are more buff now, but the charm of Conan is he was a monstrous man with a huge heart and tiny brain. These guys look more like pretty boys ready to try out for the high school football team.

Maybe if one if chosen they can go on the Taylor Lautner plan and pack on an obscene amount of weight in muscle in a short period of time. Looking at Arnold in his prime Conan days, each had best get started like yesterday.

The unnamed Conan remake, to be directed by Marcus Nispel, is expected to arrive in theaters sometime in 2011. 7BYEVMSUEQVE
