An interview clip with actress Hayley Atwell (via CBM)has confirmed a rumor dating back to early May that suggested Tommy Lee Jones might appear in The First Avenger: Captain America.
Atwell, who has already joined the cast as Peggy Carter, confirms Jones’ involvement in the film but stops short of identifying his role. Speculation over the past month points towards General Phillips, the man responsible for bringing Steve Rogers into the Super-Soldier program and ultimately turning him into Captain America. He’s described as a “hard nosed commander” which fits perfectly with Jones’ acting style.
Other tidbits pulled from the interview include Captain America cast mates Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Atwell watching Iron Man 2 together. Atwell also suggests Peggy will see some action in the film.
Now we wait for Marvel to formally announced Tommy Lee Jones and confirm his role.
