Warner Home Video has dated the Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and DVD release of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and Richard Armitage for March 19, 2013.
For its big home video debut, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray combo pack with UltraViolet will be presented in 2.4:1 1080p video and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Warner Bros. doesn’t typically include the extra surround channels so it’s a nice inclusion for such a big event film.
For bonus features, Warner is packing in 10 video blogs as well as some other goodies to extend the Middle earth experience beyond the feature film. It does not look like anything “new” was created for the home video debut, so I’m sure we’ll see more extensive bonus features on the inevitable extended edition at a later date.
