The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Trailer Delivers the Plot

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trailer from Director David Fincher gets an infusion of plot and context in the first full-length trailer for the film.

That’s not to say the teaser was a slouch. Trent Reznor and Karen O’s rendition of “Immigrant Song” made for one of the more impacting debuts of footage from a new film in quite some time.

This new nearly four-minute trailer peels back the secrecy and introduces Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) as a hacker who, according to her boss, is “different in every way.” She lives a life full of breaking and bending rules, casual sex with the same sex, and finding trouble whether it’s looking for her or sprinting away.

Lisbeth’s skills introduce her to Mikael Blomkvist, a journalist summoned to a remote island where the Vanger family’s patriarch hopes he’ll solve a 40-year old family murder mystery. You’ll have to watch the movie to find out what happens next, or watch the excellent Swedish film starring Noomi Rapace, or read Stieg Larsson’s bestselling novel.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo drops in theaters everywhere on December 21, 2011.
