Start dates for two of the big summer 2012 superhero films, Spider-Man and The Avengers, have been revealed with the first kicking off roughly four months from now.
Sony’s Spider-Man will get underway first with shooting set to commence this December. The Marc Webb-directed reboot stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and will swing into theaters on July 3, 2012.
Marvel’s The Avengers will get underway two months later in February 2011. The huge ensemble starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk will be helmed by Joss Whedon and hit theaters on May 4, 2012.
