A new trailer for Activision’s The Amazing Spider-Man was introduced during the Spike VGAs earlier this evening, and it shows off one of the enormous foes Spidey will be tasked with defeating during the course of the game.
In the trailer, Oscorp robots go haywire and attack New York City in newsreel footage. As a giant worm-like robot emerges from underground, Spidey swings into action, rips out the robot’s eye, and proceeds to systematically remove various bits and bolts.
The game is developed by Beenox and based on Sony and Columbia Pictures upcoming reboot movie The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield as the webslinger. In it, gamers will return to New York City in an epilogue story to the film – not replaying the film’s events. Spidey will utilize a new Web Rush mechanic that will give players access to a wide variety of all-new moves against a collection of criminals.
Writer Seamus Kevin Fahey, who penned episodes of Starz’ Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica, wrote The Amazing Spider-Man original video game story.
The Amazing Spider-Man game will launch in the summer 2012 alongside the film. It is expected to be available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, at minimum. Watch the new trailer below.
