The Amazing Spider-Man Featurette Examines Dr. Curt Connors

The Amazing Spider-Man Featurette Examines Dr. Curt ConnorsThe Amazing Spider-Man viral campaign has coughed up a neat little featurette that debuted on the Oscorp Industries website under Mutagen.

The featurette examines the characater of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) who to no one’s surprise will mutate into The Lizard villain over the course of The Amazing Spider-Man. What everyone may not know is connections to Peter Parker that date back a generation, as well as his intentions that aren’t truly rooted in evil.

Dr. Connors worked with Peter’s father at Oscorp and as Ifans explains, the pair were pioneers in their field of science. Connors specifically is a specialist in lizards and worked on combining species for genetic research. He knows something about Peter that Peter doesn’t, most likely having to do with the webslinger’s origin that connects him to his father’s work.

Connors must sadly work with one arm and feels slighted by his missing appendage. He’s not an evil man, but he feels as if he deserves the arm he never had. Ultimately his work to grow a new arm will result in the full transformation into The Lizard, a creature whose intentions do not reflect those of Connors. He’s like the trimmer green Hulk menace of the Spider-Man universe.

We’re now about 50 days from director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and Denis Leary.
