Telltale Games has been hard at work on The Walking Dead: Season Two, the full sequel to 2012’s Game of the Year The Walking Dead: Season One. There’s been endless speculation on which direction the new season might go considering how Season One ended, and now the cat is officially out of the bag thanks to the first The Walking Dead: Season Two trailer.
What follows delves deep into spoiler territory so if you haven’t played the original game yet then please turn back now.
The Walking Dead: Season Two will put players into the role of Clementine, the young girl from the original left an orphan after her parents were brutally killed in the initial zombie outbreak. Alone and scared several months after the conclusion of Season One, Clementine must use the survival skills she recently learned as she searches for safety. As is often the case in The Walking Dead, the worst enemies aren’t necessarily the obvious ones or those without a heartbeat.
Decisions made during Season One and the add-on 400 Days will factor into the story of Season 2, so each player will enter a gameplay experience tailored to their past choices. I’m sold and deeply saddened seeing an older and more hardened Clementine, alone, in the rain, surrounded by zombies and forced to run for her life.
The Walking Dead: Season Two is currently listed as “coming soon” and expected to arrive on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime in 2014.
