The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are poised for yet another comeback. First comic book publisher, IDW, is launching a new monthly comic series. Then Nickelodeon is bringing the pizza-eating reptiles back to TV in a new CGI cartoon series. And longtime TMNT toy maker, Playmates, has a new toy line to compliment the show. Now word is that Activision may be developing the property as a new video game.
According to a picture taken at the 2012 International Toy Fair in New York by Toyark, the new media onslaught of turtle power is gathering steam, including a possible new game from Activision, the publisher of SkyLanders and the venerable Call of Duty series.
Ubisoft held the license as far back as a few years ago, around the time of the last theatrical CGI movie, TMNT. Recently, Nintendo of America pulled the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES game off the Wii Virtual Console after Konami’s rights to the property expired. The door is now open for a new Turtles game, and now we may know who will be publishing it.
