Keeping up with the various casting reports for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards over the past 48 hours is a sure path to a migraine. The good news for you is we’re willing to take the hit and provide a quick cliff-notes version to bring you up to speed.
First up is confirmation from Variety that Brad Pitt is signed, sealed and delivered to star as Lieutenant Aldo Raine. Though much of the film will be subtitled from French and German dialogue, Pitt will only speak Much of the pic’s dialogue is in French or German, and subtitles will be used, though Pitt will speak English in his role as a “Tennessee hillbilly who assembles a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers to take on the Nazis.”
Hostel mastermind Eli Roth is officially on-board to play New Yorker Donnie “The Bear Jew” Donowitz, a man with an appetite for beating Nazi bodies with his beloved baseball bat.
Nastassja Kinski is reportedly in discussions to take on the role of a German movie queen. She hasn’t appeared in a mainstream American film in nearly a decade making her a perfect Tarantino target for career resurrection.
Talks continue with B.J. Novak (The Office) to step into the role of Jewish-American solider Private Utivich.
Meanwhile Brit extraordinaire Simon Pegg of Shaun of the Dead fame is vying for Lt. Archie Hicox, a British officer aiding Raine’s anti-Nazi efforts.
David Krumholtz (Serenity) is also in discussions to join Raine’s squad.
