Soviet-Afghan War Comes Alive in The 9th Company on Blu-ray

Well Go USA has announced the 2005 Russian ‘Nika’ winner (equivalent of Best Picture) 9th Company is coming to Blu-ray Disc and DVD on August 31.

9th Company follows Russian soldiers into Afghanistan during the Soviet conflict and war in that country that lasted from 1979 through 1989, and is widely considered to be the definitive film from that war. The film will be presented in its original Russian language and an all-new English dub on Blu-ray with 2.35:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

Bonus features will appear exclusively on the collector’s edition version while a standard edition will contain the film only. Those features include:

  • Deleted Scenes
  • Director and crew interviews
  • Historical interviews accounting the Soviet-Afghanistan conflict
  • Theatrical trailer
