Activision announced a GameStop exclusive Skylanders Swap Force Dark Edition Starter Pack that comes with five “Dark” Skylanders figures a few days ago. Of those five Dark Skylanders, two of them – Dark Wash Buckler and Dark Blast Zone – are Swap Force characters with separate top and bottom halves.
When you take the top half of regular Wash Buckler and combine him with the bottom half of Rattle Shake, he becomes Wash Shake. All of the money and upgrades earned with that Swap Force character combination are stored to the upper half of the character, in this example Wash Buckler’s top half.
What happens when you start swapping the top and bottom halves of Dark Swap Force Skylanders with regular Swap Force Skylanders? I have confirmed with Activision that this kind of swapping works much in the same way as swapping two non-Dark Swap Force Skylanders.
For example, if you were to take Dark Wash Bucker’s top half and combine it with Rattle Shake’s bottom half, the new character will be Dark Wash Shake. However, if you combine Rattle Shake’s top half with Dark Wash Buckler’s bottom half, the new character is simply Rattle Buckler. The “Dark” portion of the character only transfers to new characters via the top half.
