Skylanders Giants Tree Rex Gameplay Footage

Skylanders Giants Tree Rex Gameplay FootageSkylanders Giants has been officially announced as the followup to last fall’s hugely successfuly Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure video game. The catch to Giants is just that – the Giants – big, menacing Skylanders that can do a variety of tricks their smaller counterparts cannot.

Below is a gameplay video from the Activision press event where Skylanders Giants was first unveiled. It features Tree Rex, one of the two new Giants characters unveiled from a total of eight that will be available when the game launches.

The short gameplay demo shows Tree Rex tackling some problems only a Giant Skylander can. For example, when a bridge is taken out, Tree Rex is able to build a new one by toppling a stone statue. It’s the inanimate object version of pushing the turtles around from Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure.

Though he moves slow when not in his forearm attack mode, Tree Rex is also capable of walking through boulders, picking up and throwing boulders, smashing through cracked stone on the ground to find hidden treasure rooms underneath, and pulling islands together by a chain.

The Skylanders Giants will surely have more tricks up their sleeves. We should learn more about the game and new characters in the months leading up to Toy Fair in June.
