David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro figures to be in the hunt for an Oscar nomination next month. It also figures to be available on Blu-ray and DVD early next year, and Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for the Weinstein Company release.
The dramedy was first released theatrically on November in limited release and has gone on to earn just shy of $17 million domestically and $8.3 million overseas. An Academy Award nomination would certainly give it a ticket sales boost and also build momentum heading into the home video debut.
The latest intel suggests the Silver Linings Playbook Blu-ray and DVD release date will be February 12. This date is not confirmed so please consider it a rumored date until the studio makes their official announcement. At that time I will be able to pass along all the bonus features, disc specs and Blu-ray cover art.
