“It’s important to enjoy life while you still can,” Helen Mirren casually recommends to Bruce Willis in the first trailer for Summit Entertainment’s Red 2. Most of the old gang is back for more senior citizen action and brought some new old faces along for the ride. And why not considering the first was released with no expectations and went on to earn over $90 million at the domestic box office.
Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) is now retired and trying to live out a normal killing-free like with his wife (Mary-Louise Parker). He gets dragged back into the game by crazy Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich) and soon crosses paths once again with Victoria (Helen Mirren). Together they must track down a missing portable nuclear device before it falls into the wrong hands.
Joining the old gang are eternally youthful Catherine Zeta-Jones, Father Odin himself Anthony Hopkins, and the man known as Storm Shadow in geek culture, Byung-hun Lee.
It looks like Red 2 will follow the first film’s formula of mixing humor, action and pokes at old age. That’s about all that anyone expects from it. Well, that and John Malkovich doing something completely off the wall insane.
