Rango Trailer with Johnny Depp Debuts

Paramount and Nickelodeon have released the first full-length trailer for Gore Verbinski’s Rango, a CGI-animated adventure starring Johnny Depp as a scrawny chameleon battling an identity crisis.

Verbinski and Depp worked with one another on Pirates of the Caribbean and this Rango trailer suggests that same impeccable comedic timing has made its way into animation. Not to be outdone is town of Dirt where Rango seeks refuge and finds much more than he bargained for. It’s full of all sorts of crazy furry critters ripped right out of an old west movie. The squinty-eyed cat in particular has a stare that will kill.

Rango also stars the voices of Abigail Breslin, Alanna Ubach, Ray Winstone, Isla Fisher, Alfred Molina, Ned Beatty and Harry Dean Stanton. It opens everywhere on March 18, 2011. Though no mention is made of 3D in the trailer, the film is expected to support the third dimension.
