Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment has snatched up the feature film rights to Dark Void, the upcoming science fiction adventure video game for Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC currently in the final stages of completion at Capcom.
The official press release states the Dark Void film will be developed as a potential starring vehicle for Brad Pitt. He would potentially assume the role of a crashed pilot named Will who finds himself in an area of the Bermuda Triangle called “The Void,” an alternate primitive world where advanced aliens and their technology hope to conquer mankind. Will will have to join up with other stranded humans in this world and use the aliens’ technology against them which includes a high-powered jet pack.
Capcom has also confirmed a January 19 release date in the US and January 22 in Europe for Dark Void on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC. It had previously been scheduled to land a week earlier.
“As a game, Dark Void was developed with a wide-screen mentality – a world full of adventure presented in cinematic scope and scale,” offered Capcom’s Germaine Gioia about the deal. “Plan B recognized the potential of our newest property and are as excited about bringing Dark Void to life in cinemas as Capcom is to bring the interactive experience to home theaters.”
Hopefully the Dark Void film does not fall into the same void that swallowed up the BioShock feature film project.
