Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Script Draft Exists

With Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides recently crossing the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are wasting no time in putting together a fifth film in the multi-billion dollar franchise anchored by Johnny Depp.

Back in January before Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides came ashore in theaters, Disney tapped Terry Rossio to pen a screenplay for Pirates of the Caribbean 5. In March, director Rob Marshall said any future Pirates sequels would be standalone films.

Seeing as how Rossio took the writing assignment 6 months ago, he has had plenty of time to put a draft together. According to Bruckheimer via a tweet, that draft already exists.

It still could be awhile before Pirates of the Caribbean 5 leaves the page. Johnny Depp has already gone on record saying he wants a break before returning as Jack Sparrow. Per the tweet, the rest of the cast and crew would have to sign on as well. There are many i’s to dot and t’s to cross yet.
