It has been over 30 years since Peanuts and the Charlie Brown gang have grace the silver screen. That streak ends in 2015, and now you can take a look at what will be the first CGI-animated Peanuts movie via the teaser trailer below.
What’s immediately striking about this iteration of Peanuts is that you would never guess it is a Blue Sky Studios project. The art style is a blend between soft 3D edges that give the characters an almost puppet-like appearance, and the classic 2D details such as facial expressions we all know and love.
Peanuts taps directly into the franchise’s lineage as Craig Schulz, son of creator Charles Schulz, is serving as a producer on the film. Craig’s son, Bryan, co-wrote the screenplay with Cornelius Uliano.
A Peanuts movie wouldn’t be a Peanuts movie without the unmistakable music, and Blue Sky and Fox have wisely included it in this first Peanuts trailer. Whether it makes it into the film film remains to be seen, but I’d be shocked if it didn’t given the careful attention to nostalgia this trailer presents.
Peanuts will arrive in theaters everywhere on November 6, 2015 in 3D.
