Paranormal Activity 2 Reviews Trickling In

Last night Paramount held its first Paranormal Activity 2 screenings outside the studio in select cities, a mere 24 hours before the highly anticipated sequel invades theaters nationwide at midnight showings.

The first reviews have begun to trickle in and thus far critics are liking what they see. Five of the six reviews tracked at ratings aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes are positive thus far, a potential good sign for the film’s performance this weekend.

Bloody Disgusting’s Brad Miska felt the film “not only lives up to the hype, but also builds upon the original’s mythology.” His horror counterpart Steve “Uncle Creepy” Barton at Dread Central also came away impressed. “This is a rare sequel that complements and enhances the original without betraying the elements that made it work in the first place,” he wrote.

Paranormal Activity 2 will be hard pressed to live up to the original’s mega success now that the mystique as worn off, but it still stands a chance to make a memorable dent at the box office.
