Capping off a great evening for trailer debuts that began with Clash of the Titans, Lionsgate has shared the first post Comic-Con public look at Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass based on the Mark Millar comic book series.
Kick-Ass stars Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Aaron Johnson, Nicolas Cage and young Chloe Moretz in the tale of a comic book nerd who gets the bright idea to become a superhero in real life. There’s only one problem: he has no super powers.
Marketing Kick-Ass will be a tricky proposition for Lionsgate. The long completed film is said to be a hard R with Chloe Moretz tearing up victims as 11-year old Hit Girl. This first look cuts off right before several “hits” which makes me hope Lionsgate churns out a red band trailer for the film’s swelling fan base.
Lionsgate will release Kick-Ass on April 16, 2010.
