Neal McDonough has quickly moved from negotiations to a confirmed role in Joe Johnston’s The First Avenger: Captain America after discussing the role of Dum Dum Dugan with his lovely lady at his side before the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.
“I’m so excited — I’m playing Dum Dum Dugan,” Neal beamed without hesitation. “It’s going to be a blast with Chris [Evans], Sam Jackson, Tommy Lee Jones and everyone else. It’s going to be fantastic. We’re going to tear it up!”
McDonough goes on to confirm that the rumored appearance of The Howling Commandoes in Captain America is still planned, though the group may undergo a name change when shooting begins later this month. “I’m not sure at this point. It may change — I’m reading a few things that it might change,” he said. “But at this point, it still is. All I know is that I’m going to kick some butt and it’s going to be a blast.”
So “tear it up” and “kick butt.” Don’t you get the idea that McDonough is genuinely excited to have won the role? He seems like the perfect man for the job and already has the signature mustache growth well underway and says he will sport the bowler hat on-screen.
