Michael Fassbender in Negotiations for Danny Boyle’s Trances

Michael Fassbender’s stock is on the rise as the young actor’s name has been attached to Danny Boyle’s next project.

According to Variety, Fassbender is currently in discussions with Boyle to star in Trances, an art heist thriller in which something does terribly wrong during the operation. The film is expected to be shot on a minimal budget ala Boyle’s 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire, and arrive in theaters in March 2013. Production is scheduled to kick off this fall in London.

Fassbender will next be seen playing Magneto in Mathew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, due in theaters on June 3. He previously appeared in Jonah Hex, Centurion and Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, amongst other projects.

The next big role for Fassbender is one of the male leads in Ridley Scott’s return to science fiction with Prometheus, currently in production and scheduled for release next summer. He’ll be free to work on Trances once his commitment to Prometheus wraps up later this summer.
