‘Metal Gear Solid 4’ on June 12, Multiplayer Details

Konami has (finally) revealed the official street date release for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be June 12 of this year, and a separate multiplayer component will be made available the same time.

The Playstation 3 exclusive Kojima Productions sequel and first appearance on a Sony next-gen console has been in development seemingly forever. Konami has kept many gameplay details in the dark, deferring to new pre-rendered CGI trailers to wet gamers’ appetites instead.

The multiplayer component of Metal Gear Solid will surface in the form on a “starter pack” that will be made available during the game’s launch. This pack will allow gamers to play online with up to 15 of their closest friends or strangers.

The MGS extravaganza continues with a newly announced pre-sale campaign. Sometime in April, Konami will send out the Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD, containing a Prologue that recaps the Metal Gear franchise, a 20th Anniversary retrospective, character bios for Big Boss, Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and Solid Snake, plus a collection of international trailers of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, to anyone who pre-orders the game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is sure to be a hot seller, so make sure you secure your copy for launch.
