Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn has a keen interest in Marvel’s and DC’s superhero films dating back eight years to before Iron Man was given to Jon Favreau to helm.
In speaking with MTV News, Vaughn offered up his desire to direct a pair of upcoming superhero films. “[I’d] love to do The Avengers,” he said. “And Superman… I think it would be great to reinvent Superman.”
Vaughn went on to say he was “desperate” to do Iron Man and saw the franchise’s potential when no one else did based on his love of comics dating back to childhood. With hype surrounding Kick-Ass pointing towards a huge R-rated opening, Vaughn is positioning himself to end up on someone’s short list for a future high profile superhero flick directing gig.
