Mass Effect 2 DLC Coming via The Cerberus Network

Electronic Arts is adding some incentive to pick up Mass Effect 2 for Xbox 360 or the PC next week by packaging a unique code with each new game that will grant players access to The Cerberus Network.

This network is a means of accessing newly created downloadable content (DLC) and daily updates while playing Mass Effect 2. The first pack of new content will be available on launch day, January 26, and feature a new mission introducing Zaeed, a “rugged and deadly gun-for-hire who is recruited to join Commander Shepard’s mission to save mankind.”

Sometime after launch, BioWare will roll out another new pack that introduces the new Hammerhead vehicle. It is described as an “agile hover tank that features improved handling on rough terrain and maneuvers deftly in combat — a necessity for players traveling across harsh planetary environments throughout the galaxy.”

Other items promised for download include Cerberus Assault Armor to boost shields, health and heavy weapon ammo and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun.

Those who purchase a used copy of Mass Effect 2 can gain access to the DLC by purchasing a code for an as-of-yet determined price. The code will be tied to an EA online account and is non-transferable.
